PHENO_MaizE Team Completes Intensive Training on Drone Use for Crop Monitoring

The PHENO_MaizE team has recently wrapped up an intensive training program focused on harnessing drone technology for crop surveillance (crop monitoring). During the training sessions, team members acquired fundamental skills in drone piloting, field mapping, and photogrammetry.

Led by experts in the field, a team of certified drone pilots from Kopterpro, the training provided participants with comprehensive knowledge on operating drones effectively to capture aerial imagery of agricultural fields. This included understanding the mechanics of drone flight, mastering techniques for precise field mapping, mission planning, and utilizing photogrammetry principles to analyze crop health and growth patterns.

However, this accomplishment marks just the beginning of our team’s journey. There is still much work to be done in optimizing flight protocols, mapping techniques, and image processing protocols to reach the desired goals. Nevertheless, this training represents a significant step forward in our mission.
