PHENO_MaizE Seed Increase Nursery Successfully Planted!

Last week marked the completion of sowing for our PHENO_MaizE seed increase nurseries, comprising both selfing and crossing nurseries. The selfing nursery comprises one hundred doubled-haploid (DH) lines derived from a bi-parental population, alongside a hundred carefully selected commercial and promising inbred lines (IL), totaling 200 genotypes.

The crossing nursery encompasses these 200 lines, planned for crossing with the selected commercial MRIZP tester line, chosen for its general combining ability. Manual sowing was employed for the doubled haploid lines, while machine sowing was utilized for ILs and the crossing nursery.

All subsequent increase activities will be conducted manually in technical isolation. We anticipate yielding a substantial quantity of pure seed to facilitate field experiments in both 2025 and 2026.
